Important information and updates for you:
Ecology Wants your Feedback- Long Term Grant Funding (documents attached)
Your input is needed! If you are interested in competing for $66 million dollars of stormwater grant funds, and you would like to weigh in on what the grant criteria are, this should interest you. The timeline is tight; we need comments by Friday, May 9th to provide feedback to Ecology before the criteria are finalized for the September 2014 grant solicitation process. We apologize for the short notice, but this is the best we could do.
The 2013 Legislature funded $100M annually, ongoing, for stormwater work. These funds have supported the non-competitive project design dollars that many cities and counties are using right now, and will also support a competitive $66 million grant round in the fall of 2014 (opening in early September with applications due on November 7th).
An advisory committee was required by the proviso and convened by Ecology. The first objective of the committee has been to establish the 2014 grant funding program criteria. The next and much larger step will be to develop a long term funding program recommendation. The advisory committee has a website where you can see who is on the committee and meeting materials: http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/wq/links/swfundingwqg.html
The attached document titled “program comparison” illustrates where we have been (“2012/previous program” column), what the committee has proposed to change for the upcoming grant round (“2014 program” column) and what we are proposing to change in the future (“2015/long term program” column). Please review the document and provide comments in the attached spreadsheet. If you have questions, please contact a member of the advisory committee.
Please email the spreadsheet, once your comments are entered, to: email@example.com by 5PM Friday, May 9th. Please make the email subject line “Stormwater Grant Funding.”
Thank you in advance, Carl Schroeder (AWC) and Andy Rheaume (Redmond)
Puget Sound Starts Here-Night at the Mariners
Message sent from our baseball guru, Bill Malatinsky:
As they say in the business, it’s the bottom of the ninth, the bases are loaded, there are two outs, and two strikes. The pitcher’s sweating, the hitter’s wracked by anxiety, and the manager is nowhere to be found. They’re doing a two for one kielbasa deal on the concourse, the mascot took off its mascot head and is shouting, most of the little leaguers who came to see the game are asleep, and we need your help.
This is the last week we have to promote the Mariners game, and let’s do all that we can. Follow this list of items to experience true baseball bliss:
- Buy your tickets to the game: www.mariners.com/pugetsound
- Make other people you know buy tickets to the game: www.mariners.com/pugetsound
- Put the attached flier on every wall surface, table surface, enews, and news release you can think of.
- Sign up using this link to volunteer or bring PSSH giveaways to the booth on game day: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/805044CABAD2CA64-game/8413128
This Thursday is our May Quarterly held at Bellevue City Hall. We have great discussions and presentations you won't want to miss (agenda attached)! Psssst, this will also be Doug Rice from King County's last STORM meeting before retiring! As a co-founder of STORM, we would like his last meeting to be a good one. Please feel free to bring something to share in his honor (snack, refreshment, small token, or story would be great) and we will bring something for everyone to sign.
